Stewardship

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

A MINUTE FOR STEWARDSHIP - PLANNING YOUR LEGACY

"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children."
— Proverbs 13:22 (ESV)

Have you ever experienced a moment that changed everything for the better—a gift, an act of kindness, or an event that left a lasting impact on your life?

Have you considered the legacy you will leave behind, one that will shape the lives of others for generations to come?

What kind of lasting impression do you hope to leave on your church family, guiding them into the future?

These are the very questions we explored last year during the Leaving a Legacy workshop at FPCL. As we enter this season of reflection, we remember the friends and family who have gone before us and the enduring legacies they’ve left behind. While financial inheritance often comes to mind, there are deeper, more meaningful treasures we pass on—family traditions, a commitment to community, lasting values, love, honesty, compassion, and a strong moral compass.
How are you planning your legacy today?
  • Would you like to dedicate more time and talents to our ministry?
  • Is it time to review or update your trust or will?
  • Perhaps your focus is on strengthening bonds with family and friends.
Whatever your path, FPCL and the Presbyterian Foundation provide valuable resources to support your planning. If part of your legacy includes a financial gift to FPCL, we encourage you to consider a donation to the Legacy Fund, which has now reached $67,000, with the goal of $100,000 to establish an Endowment Fund for long-term financial sustainability.*
While we don’t have a workshop planned for this year, we invite you to learn more through FPCL or the Presbyterian Foundation as you reflect on the legacy you wish to build.

Why we give.

God is generous and seeking to emulate God, we strive to be generous as well.  What we do with what God entrusts to us illustrates where our hearts are and is a way we proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.

Giving comes in many forms and the method is less important than the willingness and desire to give from the heart with joy.
